by | Jul 28, 2024

President of Multan Press Club, Shakil Anjum, has stated that the decision to transfer the Neurosurgery and Orthopedics departments from Nishtar Hospital to Nishtar 2 is rejected. As always, the journalist community will raise its voice for legitimate demands on public issues.

During the visit of the Pakistan Medical Association’s delegation to the Multan Press Club, President Shakil Anjum expressed solidarity and said that the government’s decision to transfer these two key departments from Nishtar Hospital to Nishtar 2 is rejected. The delegation of Pakistan Medical Association met with the President of the Press Club, and doctors took the journalist community into confidence. According to the details, the Pakistan Medical Association has stepped forward against the decision to move two important departments from Nishtar 1, which has been providing healthcare services for decades to Multan, southern Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to Nishtar 2.

In this regard, the President of PMA Multan, Professor Dr. Masood Ul-Roof Haraj, along with other officials, met with the President of Multan Press Club, Shakil Anjum. On this occasion, other officials of the Press Club Multan were also present. Dr. Masood Ul-Roof Haraj stated that the Punjab Health Department has made an illogical decision to move the Neurosurgery and Orthopedics departments of Nishtar 1 to Nishtar 2, which will cause severe difficulties for patients. If this decision is not reversed, the doctors’ community and civil society will take to the streets. However, the journalist community of Multan must once again raise its voice effectively against the injustice being done to Nishtar Hospital, the most important healthcare facility in our city.

He further mentioned that Nishtar 2 was built to reduce the patient load on Nishtar 1. However, now there seems to be a conspiracy to gradually close down the most important departments of Nishtar 1. On this occasion, President of the Press Club, Shakil Anjum, stated that, as always, the journalist community will stand with legitimate demands on public issues. Nishtar 1 is a national asset, and we will not allow any harm to come to it. We reject any decision that will affect the treatment of common patients. The meeting was attended by Dr. Imran Qaisrani, Dr. Ashfaq Malik, Dr. Qadir Khan, Dr. Zulqarnain Haider, Nisar Awan, Khalid Chaudhry, Nasir Sheikh, Rauf Man, and others.
